We are looking to add a Generalist to join our Talent & Culture team in Waukee. Candidates thrive in our environment when they harness their collaborative mindset, strong interpersonal communication skills, and a love of learning.
Duties:
Supports Talent & Culture Business Partners in day-to-day responsibilities and project work, which may include:
- Prompt responses to T&C inquiries from employees (phone calls, emails, chats).
- Employee relations to include consulting with leaders, drafting documentation and supporting the delivery of messaging. Generalist will connect with Business Partners on more complex situations.
- Ad hoc reporting – ability to support Business Partners with general HRIS reporting requests.
- Meeting preparation and communication support (i.e. monthly/quarterly updates).
- Ensuring accuracy and data integrity of employee data within HRIS.
Support Talent Acquisition team with recruiting needs, which may include:
- Creation of, or updates to, job descriptions with collaboration of Business Partners and/or Compensation Director.
- Serve as backup to Talent Acquisition Coordinators during heavy recruiting periods, which could include attending campus recruiting events and screening candidates.
- Approving offers.
- Tracking hires in profit plan to include new hires, internal transfer and promotions.
Employee Changes and Profit Plan Tracking Responsibilities:
- Initiate all employee changes, including annual and off-cycle changes. Work with Talent & Culture Assistant regarding processing of changes.
- In addition to tracking new hires or filled positions, when there are internal promotions, track promotions on profit plan, ensuring accuracy of data in profit planning & accuracy of tracking.
Employee Data and Trends:
- Review and analyze survey data from Onboarding surveys, Exit surveys, Employee Experience surveys, etc. and share general themes and trends with Business Partners and Talent & Culture team.
- With the support of Business Partners, consult with leaders on trends and actions, as needed.
Annual Compensation Programs:
- Provide support to Business Partners, which could include drafting, sending, saving and tracking following:
- Annual Merit and Office Bonus
- Special Compensation Plans
- Leader Compensation Plans
- Provide support to BP’s through annual profit planning process
Termination Process and Exit Interviews:
- Assist Business Partner with involuntary terminations by gathering information, drafting meeting talking points and separation agreements, as needed, work with T&C Assistant to draft all term documents, lead termination meeting with leader and employee as needed.
- Gather written resignation and other details during voluntary terminations and send to T&C Team and T&C Assistant for termination processing.
- Conduct exit interviews for terminations within Line of Business area for certain role levels and share exit interview themes with Business Partner and leader.
Other Responsibilities:
- Conduct New Employee Orientation sessions according to rotation schedule alongside the Growth & Development team.
- Manages direction and roll-out of department title changes and role clarity programs. Creates and sends Job Descriptions to employees for execution.
- Assists with special events (flu shots, health screenings, etc.) as needed.
- Supports acquisition and merger efforts.

- Job Descriptions
- Career Mapping/Org Structure
- Employee Handbook
- Compensation Analysis
- Manager Training
- Employee Focus Groups
- Performs other duties as requested.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Solid knowledge in HR standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulations, and government laws.
- Ability to conduct coordination for our Talent Development Programs alongside our Talent Acquisition Consultant.
- Ability to be self-directed.
- Strong attention to details.
- Must demonstrate the ability to work cross-functionally and with leaders/employees at all levels of the organization.
- Strong written and verbal communication, including presentation skills.
- Communicate clearly, professionally, and proactively (both written and verbal) with teammates to ensure timely completion of duties.
- Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communications competencies.
- Knowledge of human resource compliance issues such as ADA, FMLA, Sexual Harassment, Discrimination, EEOC Guidelines, and all other applicable federal, state and local guidelines.
- Must have excellent computer skills with HRIS systems and a high proficiency in Microsoft: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat Pro.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma; college degree in Human Resources or Business-related field is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years general HR experience required.
