Lifting the Curtain on Healthcare, Politics, and Fake News

“The Voter’s Guide to Healthcare” aims to educate on healthcare cost, complexity, and coverage issues ahead of 2020 presidential election.

Den Bishop, president of Holmes Murphy and author of “The Book on Healthcare Reform,” has released his second book just ahead of the much anticipated caucuses, primaries, and 2020 general presidential election. The book titled “The Voter’s Guide to Healthcare: A non-partisan, candid, and relevant look at politics and healthcare in America” is now available and proposes a solution to the current healthcare system.

“The Voter’s Guide to Healthcare” offers a balanced approach to issues such as Medicare for All, the Affordable Care Act, the costs of pharmaceuticals, healthcare price transparency, and more. Bishop’s goal is to educate voters and positively influence the debate around our country’s cost, complexity, and coverage issues and, eventually, to fix our broken healthcare system.

“Healthcare affects every single one of us,” said Bishop. “It’s not a blue issue or a red issue. It’s a purple issue, and the 2020 election is a crucial turning point for the healthcare crisis. Every voter, regardless of affiliation, deserves to have all the information necessary for them to make an informed decision at the ballot box.”

With more than 30 years of advising employers on how to build effective employee benefits plans, Bishop is in a unique position to understand the financing behind healthcare. In his role at Holmes Murphy, he sits at the intersection of employers, insurance companies, healthcare providers, and the government, giving Bishop a unique view on how these stakeholders come together.

“Den is honestly the most creative mind in the industry,” said Wally Gomaa, CEO, ACAP Healthworks. “Anyone who knows him will not be surprised that he has poured his heart and soul into this book to ensure everyone — no matter political affiliation — understands the healthcare crisis we are currently in.”

The book explores the complexities of the healthcare system with not only unique ideas, but with a new approach, including using humor to help explain how our current system works and how it truly affects employers, employees, and voters as a whole.

“The truth tends to get twisted during an election,” added Dan Keough, Chairman and CEO of Holmes Murphy. “There’s a lot of misinformation out there, and the system is complicated. Now is the time for voters to become educated, and I believe Den has done an amazing job in breaking things down so that every American can understand our healthcare system.”
