Holmes Murphy Positively Impacts Communities Through Civic-Oriented Philanthropy

Company Releases 2023-2024 Community Impact Report

Holmes Murphy is proud to share its 2023-2024 Community Impact Report, demonstrating the company’s commitment to creating a meaningful and positive impact on the communities it serves. Since its founding in 1932, Holmes Murphy has stood as a purpose-driven organization with an emphasis on driving change not only as individuals, teams, and corporately, but also with clients, business partners, and community members. At the root of Holmes Murphy’s core spirit is a culture that cares, which has made the last 92 years in business possible.

“Throughout 2023, we activated all 1,100+ employees to not only amplify our giving efforts in our communities, but also to take full advantage of all the impactful tools our Holmes Murphy Foundation offers. As part of this, we saw outstanding results — results that have contributed to the betterment of our communities and those in which I’m incredibly proud to share,” said Dan Keough, Holmes Murphy Chairman and CEO.

In 2023, the Holmes Murphy Foundation worked to increase its impact and contributions. As a result, a total of 467 non-profits were uplifted, a 274 percent increase from 2022 to 2023. On top of this, Holmes Murphy employees contributed more than 5,500 volunteer hours, an 85 percent increase over 2022. The company increased its Direct Giving dollars by 23 percent from 2022, for a total of $1.67 million awarded. Additionally, Holmes Murphy distributed $100,000 in philanthropic contributions to 25 different non-profit organizations through the Holmes Murphy Foundation Community Footprints Program. The company also experienced a 15 percent increase in its Employee Match program whereby employees can annually double their contribution to a non-profit of their choice up to $250.

“Our Holmes Murphy team members continue to amaze me with their commitment to the tradition of generosity that we’ve nurtured,” said Tom Stewart, Holmes Murphy PLUS President and Foundation Executive Sponsor. “Their extraordinary efforts to enhance our philanthropic and community involvement are nothing short of remarkable. Whether offering their time, talents, or treasures, every employee consistently shows up, ready to embrace our core mission of taking care of others.”

Everyone wants to feel a sense of belonging, which is why at Holmes Murphy, a commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) isn’t just something the company talks about — it’s the foundation of its culture and purpose. As part of this, Holmes Murphy continued to take intentional steps forward with DE&I. One of the company’s greatest accomplishments in 2023 was creating four Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) and relaunching a fifth — its Women Optimizing Women (WOW) ERG.

“I feel at home here being my true, authentic, multicultural self,” said Eileen Munoz, Holmes Murphy Client Manager, Property Casualty, Denver, CO. “The leadership’s commitment to DE&I is impressive. I enjoy participating in our in-house cultural celebrations, DE&I discussions on allyship, and our volunteer opportunities to support our diverse community needs.”

In 2023, many organizations’ boards and leaders continued to recognize the importance of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) with a focus on exposure to global climate change, including catastrophic weather events such as the historic heatwave, wildfires, and storms, as well as an emphasis on socially sustainable supply chains. The events of 2023 reaffirm why Holmes Murphy’s commitment to ESG is rooted in the foundation of the company’s purpose of caring for the unique potential of its employees, clients, communities, and the industry.

Another major item of note for Holmes Murphy was the release of the company’s Employee Value Proposition (EVP) with an emphasis on Love What You Do and Who You Do It With.

“This is a phrase that is core to who we are,” said Keough. “We believe that what truly makes Holmes Murphy the place to be is our people — the power of connection they have with one another, the level of energy they bring, and the abundance of opportunity they have to grow. We also believe each of our employees has a story that is uniquely theirs that brings this EVP phrase to life. Whether they joined as an intern or mid-career, from a competitor or maybe even a boomerang, we believe their story is a powerful testimony to why Holmes Murphy is the place to call ‘holme.’”

Holmes Murphy is devoted to maximizing its giving and community engagement through the Holmes Murphy Foundation and other initiatives and is excited to share its commitment publicly.

“We believe all employees play a role in living out their unique potential and caring for those around them, and we’re honored to light the way for change and offer a brighter future for all,” said Keough.
