Holmes Murphy Commits to Transforming ICON Vision for Central Iowa

Company Foundation leans in to support vision with $250,000 in corporate pledge

– Iowa Confluence Water Trails is pleased to announce gifts from four local corporate donors, including the Holmes Murphy Foundation. These investments represent $400,000 in support and are included in the $25 million raised privately thus far:

  • Holmes Murphy, $250,000
  • Delta Dental, $25,000
  • NCMIC, $100,000
  • Weitz Company, $25,000

“Holmes Murphy is committed to making Central Iowa a better place for our employees, clients, and all community stakeholders,” said Dan Keough, Holmes Murphy Chairman & CEO. “We are fortunate to live in a state where natural beauty abounds, and the ICON water trails will provide a pathway for Iowans and visitors to take this all in through unique experiences. We are proud to support this visionary opportunity for Central Iowa.”

To date, more than 200 individuals and organizations have donated to the ICON Water Trails capital campaign.

“We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of Central Iowa,” Hannah Inman, Chief Executive Officer of the Great Outdoors Foundation, fiscal agent for ICON Water Trails, said. “From the private sector to our public partners, businesses to individuals, the collaboration and synergy behind this initiative is tangible in all areas — including funding.”

Once completed, ICON Water Trails will include 80+ amenities across 150 miles of waterways, providing easy access for kayakers, anglers, campers, bikers and hikers. So far, ten jurisdictions throughout Central Iowa have joined the ICON regional entity, with an additional five expected to sign on this year.

“A project of this scope and scale doesn’t happen without community support,” Maggie McClelland, Director of ICON Water Trails, said. “It’s humbling to witness businesses and individuals giving their time, talent and treasure to one unifying vision.”
