When you think about a data breach, do you immediately think about your credit or debit card information getting stolen? If so, you’re not the only one. After all, they get a lot of press. And, with the holiday shopping season in full swing, now is a great time for the Grinch-like criminals to sneakily steal your information, leading them to have a very merry holiday.

But, believe it or not, payment information isn’t the only information criminals are after.

Take the healthcare sector, for example. In the first half of 2015, the healthcare industry lost 84.4 million records in 187 breaches, the most of any industry. Let me repeat that…the most of any industry.

The key thing here is that no business or industry is safe. Data breaches and hacking incidents are increasing at an alarming rate. Your company’s sensitive information could be exposed or threatened, and you may not even know about it.

So, what can you do? For starters, take our online Information Security Self-Assessment to gauge your cybersecurity. From there, you’ll be provided with tips on how to protect your sensitive business data.

Then, talk with us. This blog is an open forum for conversation. We encourage you to comment with concerns, questions and thoughts. We have experts on hand to help you in any way we can. What tools can we provide to arm your business against threats? What types of breaches have you heard about in the industry that maybe aren’t so mainstream? We want to hear from you!

Remember, don’t get burned — get educated!
