Max L. Holmes Recognized as Industry “Game Changer”

We’re excited to announce that our founder, Max L. Holmes, has been recognized by The Council of Insurance Agents and Brokers as a 2015 Game Changer!

In 1932, Max Holmes founded his own insurance agency in Des Moines, Iowa — what’s now known as Holmes Murphy and Associates. Despite being in the thick of the Depression, he steered the company through the perilous times and helped it become one of the most successful insurance brokerages in the state. This was largely in part to him accepting the changes in the industry and embracing the need for multiple coverages being included in one policy. Because of his implementation of this sales method, Holmes is seen as one of its leading proponents and became a leading authority in the industry. It is due to these tactics that he is officially being recognized as a Game Changer in the insurance industry.

“We are honored our founder, Max Holmes, has been recognized,” said Dan Keough, Chairman & CEO of Holmes Murphy & Associates. “His innovative approach to the insurance industry has paved the way for how we currently work to provide the best service to our clients.”

Holmes was one of only five selected throughout the U.S. to receive this honor in 2015.

The award was created by the Council of Insurance Agents in honor of its 100-year anniversary. After an overwhelmingly positive response, the council decided to continue with the award in an effort to honor industry leaders who have left a lasting, positive impression. Holmes was one of five selected to receive this honor in 2015.
