Candidate AI Tools Expectations

Candidate AI Tools Expectations

Thank you for your interest in Holmes Murphy. Our hiring process is designed to be fair, consistent, and focused on getting to know you, including your experience, your thinking, and how you approach your work. This guidance outlines how artificial intelligence (AI) tools can and cannot be used during the process.
Using AI to Prepare

We recognize that AI tools are increasingly part of how people prepare for professional opportunities. You are welcome to use them to prepare. This includes researching Holmes Murphy, refining your resume or cover letter, and practicing interview responses.

Preparation matters, and we want you to show up ready.

Expectations During Interviews and Assessments

Our interviews and assessments are intended to reflect your own knowledge, skills, and judgment in real time.

For that reason, candidates should not use AI tools during live interviews (phone, video, or in person) or during written assessments, case studies, or skills exercises, unless the instructions for a specific activity clearly state that AI use is permitted.

This includes tools that generate, suggest, or coach responses in real time. It also includes browser extensions, transcription-based answer generators, or similar technologies.

If you are unsure whether a tool is appropriate, please ask your Talent Acquisition contact in advance.

Why This Matters

Using AI-generated content and presenting it as your own work does not give us an accurate understanding of your capabilities. It also creates inconsistency across candidates.

If we determine that AI tools were used in a way that conflicts with this guidance, it may impact your candidacy, up to and including removal from the process or withdrawal of an offer.

Accommodations

Nothing in this guidance is intended to limit the use of assistive technology or tools needed as a reasonable accommodation for qualified applicants with disabilities, consistent with applicable law.

If you anticipate needing to use a tool during an interview or assessment that may fall within this guidance as part of an accommodation, please let us know in advance. Your Talent Acquisition contact will work with you to ensure appropriate accommodations are in place. We will not take adverse action against any candidate on the basis of a disclosed disability or a properly requested accommodation.

Questions

We know this is an evolving space, and we are continuing to learn alongside it. If you have questions, reach out to your Talent Acquisition contact at any point in the process.

Holmes Murphy may update this guidance over time to reflect changes in technology, law, and our hiring practices.
