We are looking to add a Claims Assistant to join our Creative Risk Solutions team in Waukee, IA. Candidates thrive in our environment when they harness their collaborative mindset, strong interpersonal communication skills, and a love of learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receives, gathers and accurately transmits claims information to the company, from communications with the insured, claimants, and internal staff in a timely manner.
  • Enters and maintains accurate information on a computer system during the claim process, to include final settlement information.
  • Generates checks for medical payments daily.
  • Compiles and interprets reports on designated accounts, as requested.
  • Ability to handle multiple jurisdictions of medical workers’ compensation claims and/or general liability and auto claims.
  • Develops and monitors consistency in procedural matters of the claims handling process with CRS.
  • Knowledge of organizational methods and the ability to manage multiple tasks/duties simultaneously.
  • Assist the adjuster with mandatory State Reporting.
  • Assist the adjuster with the payment of medical and non-medical bills.
  • Assist the adjuster attaching mail and sending out records requests to medical providers.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Workers’ Compensation and/or General Liability and Auto insurance coverage and the ability to apply that knowledge in the performance of the job duties.
  • Skillful knowledge of claims processing procedures.
  • Ability to work with persons under adverse or highly emotional conditions.
  • Knowledge of organizational methods and the ability to manage multiple tasks/duties simultaneously.
  • Ability to work daily and extended hours, as necessary.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to act in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Ability to learn various software programs.
  • Ability to become licensed if required in jurisdiction where claims are handled.
  • Must be knowledgeable of and comply with HMA’s Client Privacy Policy, HIPAA regulations and E&O procedures and policies.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School education with college preferred.
  • Experience:1 – 2 years’ claims experience with strong background in Workers’ Compensation and/or General Liability and Auto coverage preferred.
