Brunch So Hard | A webinar for NPC Organizations

    Monday, September 19 | 12:00 noon CT

Join Dr. Pietro Sasso to learn about specific research around NPC women, alcohol use and fraternity men.

This session will describe research findings from a qualitative psychological study drawn from interviews with National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) sorority women about their experiences with fraternity men and alcohol use. Findings suggest that members were unapologetic about their purveyance of alcohol-related behaviors. They embraced social behaviors illustrated in this study which they perceived as empowering in liberating them from the influence of male patriarchy. Chapter leadership often used alcohol to construct a system of gendered hegemony which heavily indoctrinated new members through innocuous forms of bullying and intimidation. Implications for practice include connections for alcohol misuse prevention and wellness programming.
