We are looking to add an Accounting/Administrative Assistant to join our Fraternal Services team in Omaha, NE. Candidates thrive in our environment when they harness their collaborative mindset, strong interpersonal communication skills, and a love of learning.

This role will perform accounting functions in accordance with the objectives and procedures set forth by the management of Holmes Murphy.

Here’s just a bit of what you’d do:

  • Handle insurance company accounting functions, including but not limited to:
  • Perform a variety of general accounting support tasks.
  • Compile data and prepare a variety of reports.
  • Reconcile and resolve accounting records/discrepancies.
  • Assist with other accounting projects as directed by Assistant VP of Operations.
  • Perform various administrative duties for the office as needed.
  • Process and submit expense reports for managers.
  • Record customer payments and cash receipts
  • Record all Direct Bill payments
  • Handle all aspects of Risk Management Collections

You’d need to be equipped with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to the job, including, but not limited to:

  • Capable of exercising discretion in confidential matters and use independent judgement.
  • Ability to be available for work on a daily basis for a minimum of 5 hours per day and for overtime as necessary to perform duties.
  • Knowledge of standard accounting principles.
  • Ability to utilize calculator to perform various mathematical functions
  • Must be knowledgeable of and comply with HMA’s Client Privacy Policy, HIPAA regulations and E&O procedures and policies.
  • Ability and willingness to consistently participate in internal and external educational opportunities to enhance knowledge of current insurance topics or relevant system improvements.
  • Ability and willingness to pursue a technical designation and/or continuing education, as appropriate.
  • Must be knowledgeable of and comply with HMA’s Client Privacy Policy, HIPAA regulations and E&O procedures and policies.

And let’s not forget the qualifications for the position:

  • Education: High school diploma; college degree preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 2- 3 years of accounting experience. Experience in a insurance agency environment is a plus.
