Holmes Murphy Expert Recognized as Regional Safety Professional of the Year

Holmes Murphy is proud to announce that the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) has recognized Josh Jacobsen, Senior Loss Control Consultant for Holmes Murphy, as the Region V 2017 Safety Professional of the Year. Jacobsen joins a select group of the most well-rounded and effective safety professionals worldwide, as the ASSE only recognizes eight recipients each year.

“Josh has proven time and again that dedication, hard work, and an emphasis on innovation produce the best results,” said John Hurley, Senior Vice President, Property Casualty Enterprise Leader, and Shareholder of Holmes Murphy. “It came as no surprise that Josh is being honored as an ASSE Safety Professional of the Year. His tireless efforts to ensure we provide the best practices to our clients across the U.S. have proven effective. Josh is an essential part of the Holmes Murphy team, and we are glad to see him receive this recognition.”

Jacobsen has worked tirelessly to empower and advise up-and-coming safety professionals in ASSE’s student chapter at Iowa State University (ISU). He was able to help the student chapter recover from a period of low attendance and a lack of interest from the student body. Jacobsen took the time to meet with students in the safety program at ISU and helped them grow their chapter by adding 21 new members in the 2016-2017 school year.

“Ensuring the next generation of safety professionals is engaged and interested in growing our field has always been a passion of mine. These students will soon be our colleagues, and their innovative ideas could effectively improve safety practices,” stated award recipient Jacobsen.

Jacobsen’s commitment to occupational safety and health, his yearn for innovation, and passion for empowering the next generation of safety professionals has led to his recognition as one of eight ASSE Safety Professionals of the Year.
