Holmes Murphy Team Members Assume Key Leadership Roles in Community
DES MOINES — March 15, 2011 — Holmes Murphy® team members pride themselves on giving back to their communities, and two Des Moines associates have recently taken key leadership roles in area organizations.
JDRF
Senior Vice President — Bonds Craig Hansen has been named the incoming president of the Greater Iowa Chapter Board of Directors of Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). The chapter contributes over $3.5 million annually to diabetes research, striving for a cure for type 1 diabetes. In addition to raising funds for research, the JDRF organization provides support and education to the community about diabetes and its complications.
Holmes Murphy has been a strong advocate of JDRF. President and CEO Jim Swift served as chair of the 2010 Central Iowa Walk to Cure Diabetes, which placed in the Top 5 most successful events in the country, attracting over 9,000 walkers and raising $1.5 million. Holmes Murphy’s team had 150 walkers.
American Heart Association
Holmes Murphy Chief Operating Officer Jason Hellickson has been named co-chair of the 2011 Des Moines Start! Heart Walk. The walk will be held June 18 beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the Iowa State Capitol Building. Through the Start! Heart Walk, the American Heart Association creates opportunities for people to improve their health by walking and simultaneously raises funds to help fight heart disease and stroke.
