Bob Dee Inducted to Insurance Hall of Fame
DES MOINES — May 20, 2010 — Bob Dee, former chairman and CEO of Holmes Murphy® & Associates, was inducted into the Iowa Insurance Hall of Fame during a May 19, 2010, ceremony at Drake University’s Olmsted Center in Des Moines, Iowa. This is Holmes Murphy’s second year in a row to be honored with a leader inducted into the Hall of Fame; founder Max Holmes was inducted in 2009.
Dee began his career at Holmes Murphy as an account executive in 1960. Two years later, Dee became a partner within the company and by 1971 was named vice president and treasurer. Continuing to climb the executive ladder for nearly 20 years, Dee was named chairman and CEO in 1990.
In a nomination letter Dee is described as “an outstanding example of one who gives back to the community that which he received. He has been an outstanding family man and his character is beyond reproach. He is justly deserving of this nomination.”
“Bob’s entire career was dedicated to the business of insurance, primarily in the independent agency format,” said another nomination letter. “He adopted and carried forward the commitment of his mentors, Max Holmes and Ray Murphy, to the concepts of integrity, fairness and diligence in serving the insurance needs of the clients of Holmes Murphy.”
