Holmes Murphy® & Associates’ Doug Reichardt Wins Leadership of Iowa Award
DES MOINES — June 12, 2009 — Doug Reichardt, chairman of Holmes Murphy® & Associates, is the recipient of the 2008 Leadership of Iowa award presented by the Leadership Iowa Board of Governors. This award is given to an alumnus of the leadership program who demonstrates a strong commitment to serving Iowa. Reichardt received his award during the Iowa Association of Business and Industry Foundation (ABI) convention on June 10 in Okoboji, Iowa.
“It’s an honor to have Doug among our Leadership of Iowa alumni,” said Kay Neumann-Thomas with ABI. “He exemplifies what leadership in Iowa is all about and helps make it a better place.”
Reichardt was honored for his involvement and dedication to enhancing the quality of life in Iowa. He has invested many years toward enriching the lives of others through leadership roles with organizations committed to the well being of the greater community and state. For example, he’s participated as the chairman of the following organizations: Regional Business Development Board, Live Healthy America and Live Healthy Iowa, United Way of Central Iowa Campaign, and Greater Des Moines Community Development.
In addition, Reichardt was chosen for his leadership for Holmes Murphy & Associates, which helped the organization become America’s 28th largest independent insurance brokerage agency, up from ranking #71 seventeen years ago. As chairman and past president, Reichardt’s leadership philosophy was aimed at helping the development of others in the insurance field. He developed a two-year internship program for individuals focused on taking their insurance skills to the next level, as well as a program that provides guidance to emerging leaders within the organizations.
