Max Holmes Enters Insurance Hall of Fame
DES MOINES — June 22, 2009 — Max Holmes, the founder of Holmes Murphy® & Associates, was inducted into the Iowa Insurance Hall of Fame during a May 21, 2009, ceremony at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.
Max Holmes founded Holmes Murphy in 1932 at the height of the Great Depression. In 1948, he hired J. Raymond Murphy as a salesman and worked with him to build Holmes Murphy & Associates, which still thrives today. Holmes died in 1975 at the age of 78. However, his values and the beliefs he instilled in the company continue as an integral part of the leadership style that has become the company’s executive profile.
Max Holmes joins his business partner Raymond Murphy in the Iowa Insurance Hall of Fame. Murphy was inducted in 2001.
